Double Header May 30thOn May 30th, 2009, Bloomington’s own Bleeding Heartland Roller Girls (BHRG) kicked off their 2009 home season with a double-header at the Bloomington Sportsplex. The Code Blue Assassins opened the evening with their debut bout against the Circle City Socialites. The teams duked it out, neck in neck for a good deal of the bout. Rookie jammers Polly Hammer’us, Betty Wreckognize, and Zero Dark busted their way through the packs and helped establish a lead for the Code Blue Assassins. Veteran Lotta Trouble stood out as a strong and strategic blocker. The Code Blue Assassins, with their star veterans and skilled rookies, gained a solid lead for a final score of 74 to 55.

The Flatliners and the Rockford Rage closed the evening with a fast-paced and physical bout.

The Flatliners secured a significant lead in the beginning of the first half, with a score of 44 to 2 after the first few jams. But Rockford quickly narrowed the gap, with their strong crew of jammers and blockers. However, it wasn’t enough to gain the lead. With veteran jammers Ka Ka Caliente and Killer Kindness as well as standout rookie jammer Terror d’Bits in high rotation, the Flatliners scored some big points. In the pack, rookie Shock n Roll and vets Sagitterrorist, Margles McNasty, Party Foul, and Bombshell Shock held off Rockford and exchanged some hard hits with the Rage. When all was said and done, the Flatliners finished with a lead of over 50 points, with a score of 142 to 89.

BHRG’s next bout is on Saturday, June 13 against the Rollergirls of Southern Indiana (ROSI) in Evansville, IN. Their next home bout is Saturday, June 11th (at what was formerly known as the Sportsplex).

Photos of the bout will be posted soon!
