Farm Fatales prevail over Slaughter Scouts in last minute of season opener
The Farm Fatales managed a thrilling last-minute victory over the Slaughter Scouts when Bloomington’s two home roller derby teams went head to head in “Sibling Rivalry,†the first bout of the league’s second season. After a successful inaugural season last year, the league has grown enough to form the two home teams. In front of a sold-out crowd of over 1000 loud and enthusiastic fans, the two evenly matched teams were neck-and-neck until the very end. In the last minute of the bout, the Fatales closed the 71-62 gap to finish the game ahead, 72-71.

This is only the beginning of the Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls’ exhilarating second season. Each home team will travel for one bout this season (the Farm Fatales will play the Chicago Outfit on June 28 and the Slaughter Scouts face off against the Rollergirls of Southern Indiana [ROSI] on July 12 in Evansville), and the two teams will have a rematch on October 18 at the Bloomington Sportsplex. Also this season the Flatliners, an all-star team comprised of members from the Farm Fatales and the Slaughter Scouts, will play three bouts at the Sportsplex (June 14, July 19, and August 23) and one away bout (September 20, against Covington, Kentucky’s Black and Bluegrass Moonshiners).
