Roller Derby Teams Go Head to Head in Season Opener
The Farm Fatales and the Slaughter Scouts Face Off
On May 17th, 2008, Bloomington’s own Bleeding Heartland Roller Girls (BHRG) will open their second season with a bout at the Bloomington Sportsplex. After a successful inaugural season last year, the league has grown enough to form two home teams, the Farm Fatales and the Slaughter Scouts, as well as an “All-Star” team, the Flatliners. This season’s first bout, “Sibling Rivalry,” will pit the two home teams against one another at the Bloomington SportsPlex, 1700 W. Bloomfield Rd., at 7pm on Saturday, May 17th. Tickets are available in advance at the Sunrise Box Office, Amused, Landlocked Records, Plan 9, Be Hair Now, the SportsPlex or from your favorite rollergirl. Advance tickets are $10, and tickets at the door are $15. Children’s tickets will be available for $5 and children ages 5 and under get in free! Season and VIP tickets are also available.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Boxcar Books; and the rollergirls are also offering a $1 off coupon for a BHRG t-shirt if you bring a book to be donated to the Midwest Pages for Prisoners Project. New for this season’s bouts we will be exclusively playing music by local Bloomington musicians.
Come out to support your local roller derby league!
