Megabyte

Megabyte was created on a dark and stormy night in a small village in the Netherlands by two mentally warped scientists. Her body was formed of left over scraps from previous scientific experiments gone awry. She looked human-like in every way except for the abnormally sharp, fang-like teeth she was given in hope that they may someday serve as an asset and help her find work in the tiny Dutch village.

And that they did indeed. As Megabyte’s scientist ‘parents’ grew older and struggled to make ends meet, she was able to find an apprenticeship working in the local village clog shop. Her sharp fangs served her well as she helped the town’s only clog maker quickly and precisely fashion blocks of wood from willow or poplar trees into wooden shoes known as clogs or ‘klompen’. However, after a few years of clog production Megabyte was overcome with feelings of angst and desire for personal freedom. She longed for something greater, bigger and better. She wondered… if her teeth could chisel clogs more quickly than the clog maker’s oblong knife…what else could they do?

Walking home from working late in the clog shop that night, she decided to find out. She stopped a young lady to ask her the time and sank her fangs into said lady’s tender throat. As the warm blood flowed into her mouth and down her lips, Megabyte knew she would never be the same. She left the Dutch village a few days later for fear of being caught.

Now a resident of Bloomington, Indiana, Megabyte can be found flashing her razor-sharp canines at foes on the roller derby track.
