Wanna play roller derby?
Yes. Yes you do.
Join the Bleeding Heartland Roller Girls!
Where to start: Contact Knock’r Down (susaroo[at]bluemarble.net) to find out about opportunities to meet roller girls at the local roller rink and to join our striver contingent, the Disorderlies. We recommend skating at Western Skateland a few times and talking with a couple skaters before you decide to commit to buying gear. See the new skater information packet below.
The next step: BHRG created a program this season called the “Disorderlies” to introduce new skaters to the world of derby and create a space for people who want to play but can’t make the full league commitment. Disorderlies meet once a week on Thursday nights and learn the basics of skating and derby (No previous skating experience required). To participate in this program you will need WFTDA insurance, and full gear (helmet, mouth guard, wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads, and skates).
All in: Once you’ve “graduated” from the Disorderlies you are eligible to join the league and may be played on one of the travel teams, the Flatliners or the Code Blue Assassins. Full league skaters practice 3 nights a week, bout 1-2 times per month during the season, participate in committee work, and do a fair amount of travel. You will be busy but you’ll be having a great time and meeting tons of new people.
Join BHRG and be a part of something BIG!
